so, last night, i decided it was time to clean out the voicemails on my phone. i have managed to keep some on there since the beginning of 2009. all with good reason, mind you. whether drunk messages, birthday messages, random stories, or songs chosen for me to hear out of a concert line up…i kept every single one because i wanted to. the good ones, of course, i saved. there were some on there, however, that i didn’t even know existed.
for example, a message from angela.
a couple of my friends and i have this running joke about martin luther king jr. day. at the beginning of this year, they came to visit me for that weekend. i started to work for angela more. on that monday morning (the holiday), i called angela to see if she would need me to work for her the next day. the phone rings and her little voice answers…
“…happy thanksgiving! (cackle of laughter) no, wait. it’s not thanksgiving…happy st. martin’s day!”
“you mean martin luther king day?”
“happy martin luther king day!”
martin luther king day will forever be st. martin’s day now.
the message i found last night had to do with halloween.
“hellllo caryynnn. happy, wait…what day is today? (long pause) happy costume! i hope you are dressed to impressed. call me back. byeee (in that breathy british accent of hers).”
miss. miss. miss. miss. miss.
everything about her. all the time.
